Things Cohan Does at 1 year

As I think about Cohan turning 1 tomorrow, I think about how far he has come and all he has learned. Each day, Scott and I look at each other in amazement.

When I started this blog, it was to share pictures and video of Cohan with my family out of town. Now, I use it to post his milestones so I can print this into a "scrapbook." For those of you that know me well, I tried the whole scrapbook thing. I was told to stop. It wasn't pretty.

Now, as Cohan is turning 1, I looked back at the beginning and can't believe how fast this year has gone. We have so much to be thankful for. Before I print his first year into a book, I wanted to note all the "big things" Cohan is doing.

1.) Drinking from a cup (even a straw). He is done with formula and starting whole milk. He even has his daytime bottles in a sippy cup. So far that's been easy... can't say getting rid of his pacifier is going to be that easy!

2.) Cohan is great at restaurants. He loves watching everyone. He especially loves sitting on patios and waving to cars.

3.) Walking.

4.) Snacking. Especially on the go.
5.) Pushing anything.
6.) Playing with trucks. What a little boy he has become!
7.) Playing with Riggs. Sometimes I catch Cohan laying on Riggs' bed snuggling too! He doesn't have a sibling... this is as close as Cohan will get to one for awhile!
8.) "Helping." Caught Cohan a few times trying to let Riggs out. He loves locking doors.
9.) Sitting forward in his car seat. He couldn't stop looking out... amazement.
10.) Making a mess...
11.) Sharing. With Riggs and anyone willing to take his food (not the best eater).
12.) Makes siren noises when playing with trucks.
13.) Goes around the house closing all the doors.
14.) Screams for fun and then belly laughs at himself.
15.) Reads books and then kisses certain animals.
16.) Feeds himself.
17.) "Talks" on the phone. Finds any phone in the house and says HI!
18.) Waves
19.) Blows kisses and gives kisses.
20.) Talks--- says mom, dad, mommy, hi, doggie, no, ya, and tickle

Aunt Abby Visits

Abby lives about 5 hours away. I have a hard time with her living so far away. I can't think of any way to be optimistic about her being that far. I guess the only good thing is how excited we get when we do get to see her!
Cohan loved showing her all his toys.

Abby loved showing Cohan all about bubbles. His laughs and excitement were hilarious.

Cohan loved being pushed in his Cozy Coupe car. Listen to the laughs!!!
While Abby was here, Allie came to visit. We had an awesome time out on the town like old times...

Cousin Time

We were so excited that Aunt Beth and Uncle Mark went to dinner to celebrate Beth's birthday. This meant that we were able to babysit Mack and Avery. Cohan loved having his cousins there to play.

Avery and Cohan watched each other as they both had dinner. It was so funny to watch them stare at each other, "talk," and eat dinner.

Cohan loved being the one to push Avery. She did not seem to mind being escorted around the house!

Avery was so funny. She would hand things to Cohan all night. Such a helper! She even brought him his pacifier.

Even Uncle Pooh came over to play. And look how big Mack is getting...

We tried to get a picture of the three of them....

GramMo Visits

My mom came to visit. We were so excited to go out to eat, shop, get ready for Cohan's first birthday party and play.

She loved seeing him and getting big kisses.

She LOVED giving Cohan baths!

They read lots of wonderful children's books.

They loved playing and giggling. We miss her already.

Watch Out World- I'm Walking!!

There are several changes happening each day with Cohan. The amount of things that he has learned, said and accomplished amaze me daily.

Walking is our new mission completed.

Friday, we had a teacher work day at school. I dropped Cohan off at the normal time, and planned to pick him up early because my mom was coming in town. I called around 1:30 and Alison (Cohan's amazing babysitter) to make sure he was not napping. She said, he was awake and taking several steps. I could NOT believe it. When I got to Alison's house, Cohan was not just taking a few steps, he was WALKING!!!

I was so excited. I could not even believe that my BABY was walking. My mom arrived, she couldn't believe it and when Scott got home from work, he was just as amazed. Here are a few of our favorites from Cohan's first day walking.

Grandpa & Grandma Chris Come to Visit

We were so excited that that weather held off a little and the snow allowed my dad and step-mom to come and visit. Cohan loved seeing them. My step-mom, Chris, had never been to Shakespeare's Pizza. We had drinks and some yummy pizza.

After a day walking around the mall, visiting and hanging out together, Cohan loved how Grandma Chris fed him dinner.

Of course, he had to pull EVERY toy out to show them!

Something that my dad always does when he comes and visits is make my Grandma's Baking Powder Biscuits and Gravy. This is a Schmidt tradition. Cohan enjoyed his first of Grandma's Baking Powder biscuits.

But he may have enjoyed snuggle time more...

Thanks for coming to visit. We miss you already!!
