Cohan has been smiling like crazy lately The best is when we go to pick him up form a nap or from bed, and he just grins from ear to ear. When I see this, it melts my heart. Here are a couple of our favorites....

Cousin Time

Cohan is so blessed to have two cousins.

Tayler is 6 and lives in Illinois. He came to visit and my mom was ready to take lots of pictures in their Mizzou gear. Here are a few of our favorites...

Avery is Cohan's other cousin. She lives here in Columbia. Cohan gets to see her more often. Avery is 7 months old. Here are a couple of our favorite pictures of the two of them (and the proud dads!).

Our New Arrival

Scott and I found out that I was going to be induced on March 1st. I was super excited because I was so ready to meet Cohan and not be pregnany anymore! =) By the end of my pregnancy I was really swollen and just uncomfortable. My mom came into town to help us prepare and finish up last minute things before we left for the hospital. Here is the last picture of me as we left for the hospital in Cohan's room.

Scott and I went into the hospital on Sunday night at 6:00 p.m. to check in and get the process started. When we checked in and they started checking me, I was already in labor. I had not idea what contractions felt like, so this was news to me. After a rough night of contractions and being uncomfortble, the doctor's came in a broke my water at 7:00 in the morning.

I wanted to try and be brave and not get medication to ease the pain. I thought that I could make it. I did for 20 hours... then I could not take it anymore. Scott was so helpful and knew exactly how to calm me down. After the epideral, I felt much better. Everything was going great until I had to start pushing. Everytime that I pushed, Cohan's heartrate dropped. Our doctor was worried about him.

After an hour, our doctor told us that I was going to have to have an emergency c-section. This was my biggest fear. I knew recovery was tough and I had already been in labor for 26 hours... but I knew this was what was best for Cohan. After a quick c-section and lots of emotions, we met our healthy (large) son, Cohan Schmidt Watson at 8:06 p.m. He was 21 1/2 inches long and weighed 8 lbs 11.7 oz. The doctors told us after, that we would have had to have had a c-section no matter what. Cohan was large, "sunny side up" and his head was turned.

Even though he did not come according to how we planned, we are so happy that he is here and healthy. We could not have asked for better nurses and doctors at the hospital. They made our stay easier. We got to come home on Thursday afternoon. We had lots of visitors and everyone was so excited to meet Cohan.

Cohan is the best little baby ever. He has now started to stay awake for longer and his little personality is starting to show. He is very easy going and pretty alert for being only a couple weeks old. I will continue to update the blog as often as possible!

Showers, Showers, Showers, and Showers

We are so blessed to have to many friends and family that wanted to celebrate the arrival of our little man. I ended up having 4 different showers. The showers started in January, and I just finished my last two showers on February 6th and 7th.

My mom was able to come for the last two showers in Columbia. It was wonderful for her to be here and help. She got the entire nursery organized, my hospital bag packed, all the gifts put away and now we are ready for Cohan to arrive!!

The first shower was in Springfield, IL with friends and family. It was thrown by my mom's two best friends, Margie and Leslie, and my sister, Abby, and sister-in-law, Sarah. It was so fun to celebrate and get advise from all my family and friends. My Yukon on the way home was packed to the brim. I was not sure we would get everything to fit.

My next shower was a couples shower for all my friends at work. It was thrown by Abbey Matz, Betsy Rice and Ann Denney. They had the awesome idea to make soups and breads. It was perfect. Everyone had a great time and we were excited to spend time with great people!

My third shower was with all my girlfriends and moms of my friends. It was February 6th. It is always so fun to get everyone together and catch up. This shower was thrown by Kenley Barnett and my sister-in-law, Beth. It was so fun to get together, celebrate and get ready for Cohan!

My last shower, was for all the Columbia friends of my mother-in-law. It so fun and great to see people that I normally don't get to see. It was especially fun to have two showers in one weekend.

Now we are just waiting and ready for him to come. Bets were made at all the showers and everyone thinks that I will go early... and I am A-O-K with that!!!!

Here is a video that I made for my mom to show her what we have done so far in Cohan's room. Scott and I have worked to make his nursery perfect for what we wanted. A few more things need to be done... but here it is so far!

Getting Ready for Cohan

Scott and I finally decided on a name for our little man! He will be Cohan Schmidt Watson. Abby actually found the name. We just changed the spelling to make it Irish! It has been fun to talk about him and actually call him something besides Peanut or little man.

It is always a busy time of year, but at our house, it feels even busier! Scott has been painting and I have been...helping?! Getting ready has been fun. The room is painted now (just a few touch-ups need to be done). Here are pictures of the room and my belly at about 27 weeks. More picutres to come after the holidays.
