Cousin Time

We were so excited that Aunt Beth and Uncle Mark went to dinner to celebrate Beth's birthday. This meant that we were able to babysit Mack and Avery. Cohan loved having his cousins there to play.

Avery and Cohan watched each other as they both had dinner. It was so funny to watch them stare at each other, "talk," and eat dinner.

Cohan loved being the one to push Avery. She did not seem to mind being escorted around the house!

Avery was so funny. She would hand things to Cohan all night. Such a helper! She even brought him his pacifier.

Even Uncle Pooh came over to play. And look how big Mack is getting...

GramMo Visits

My mom came to visit. We were so excited to go out to eat, shop, get ready for Cohan's first birthday party and play.

She loved seeing him and getting big kisses.

She LOVED giving Cohan baths!

They read lots of wonderful children's books.

They loved playing and giggling. We miss her already.

Watch Out World- I'm Walking!!

There are several changes happening each day with Cohan. The amount of things that he has learned, said and accomplished amaze me daily.

Walking is our new mission completed.

Friday, we had a teacher work day at school. I dropped Cohan off at the normal time, and planned to pick him up early because my mom was coming in town. I called around 1:30 and Alison (Cohan's amazing babysitter) to make sure he was not napping. She said, he was awake and taking several steps. I could NOT believe it. When I got to Alison's house, Cohan was not just taking a few steps, he was WALKING!!!

I was so excited. I could not even believe that my BABY was walking. My mom arrived, she couldn't believe it and when Scott got home from work, he was just as amazed. Here are a few of our favorites from Cohan's first day walking.

Grandpa & Grandma Chris Come to Visit

We were so excited that that weather held off a little and the snow allowed my dad and step-mom to come and visit. Cohan loved seeing them. My step-mom, Chris, had never been to Shakespeare's Pizza. We had drinks and some yummy pizza.

After a day walking around the mall, visiting and hanging out together, Cohan loved how Grandma Chris fed him dinner.

Of course, he had to pull EVERY toy out to show them!

Something that my dad always does when he comes and visits is make my Grandma's Baking Powder Biscuits and Gravy. This is a Schmidt tradition. Cohan enjoyed his first of Grandma's Baking Powder biscuits.

But he may have enjoyed snuggle time more...

Snow Day Play Date

Cohan loved getting out of the house and heading to the Hickey's house for a play date. Ila, Hayden, and Cohan played all day. Scott and I did not mind having adults beverages with friends either.

Ila kept bringing Cohan toys and he loved each minute of it.

Cohan also planted his first of many kisses on Ila Rose. Like a pro, she tipped her head back and kissed him right back! They love each other...

The boys loved watching neighbors try to dig themselves out. Kenley and I enjoyed some girl time!

And then it was time to take the kids outside to play. We just wanted to make sure they were warm. Cohan hated getting ready... (Doesn't he look like the kids from the Christmas story?!)

Once he was out there, he enjoyed it!

All in all, a good day out!

Lots of Inside Activities

As these snow accumulates on the ground (16-20 inches and 2-4 foot drifts), so does the activities that Scott and I create to do in the house with Cohan. It is really amazing how being stuck in the house has made Scott and I go nuts, but Cohan seems to love it!

We have realized how coordinated Cohan is... Look at him playing catch! He thinks it's hilarious!

Cohan also loves Skyping with his GramMo. He is so inquisitive and now every time Scott or myself are on the computer, he crawls as fast as he can to see if someone is on the computer to Skype. He plays peek-a-boo, waves and says hi, and blows kisses bye-bye. It is amazing that even tough my mom lives 3 hours away, Cohan gets to see her daily (sometimes more than once). I even have a friend in Hong Kong that we Skype with. Technology is amazing.

Now only if my dad would jump on the bandwagon!!!

Cohan wants to push his toys everywhere. He has learned how to get toys out (we are still working on the whole putting them away thing). He used to get very upset when he ran into something and couldn't figure out how to turn his toy around. I am proud to say... he has mastered this little feat. It's the small things we celebrate these days!

One of hs favorite Christmas gifts was a piano that has a microphone attached. He loves to bang on the piano, but even more... this kid loves to sing and dance.

We have began to master the whole "eating regular food" and don't give him baby food anymore. Riggs might like this more than Cohan. The dog sits right next to him as he eats. Cohan is a wonderful sharer and loves to give Riggs a little taste quite often. This morning he thought he was a petty big deal because he ate standing up at the coffee table and also ate off a plate. I am happy to report he did not throw the plate... again, it's the little things we celebrate these days.

Spontaneous Trip

Last weekend, Scott and I talked on Friday night about doing something fun on Saturday. We discussed going to St. Louis for the day, thought about Kansas City, or maybe even the lake for the night. Then as time passed and Cohan napped, it didn't look promising.

However, we went to lunch with a somefriends and Jack and Meagan (Scott's brother and his girlfriend). On the drive home from Shiloh, we talked about plans for the night. We decided.... Let's drive to the lake!

15 minutes later, 4 adults, 2 dogs and one baby were on our way. It was something to do and we wouldn't be sitting at home. Cohan loved his little"vacation" from home!!
