For the past few years, we have spent our spring break with the Quintero Family. We love the memories these kids have made and the fun we get to have together. It's fun to have my best friend on these adventures and it's even sweeter that our kids love each other too.
This year, we headed to Kansas City for part of the week. Scott and Matt came with us until Sunday. The trip started a little rocky. Cohan and Ireland both got sent home from school on Friday. Cohan had strep and was better by Saturday morning, but Ireland tested negative for step. We took her back to the doctor's office on Saturday and they said she had croup (which Dr. Wheeler said was a glorified cold). He told us to go and she'd be fine. So, Saturday morning we pack up and headed to Kansas City. By Saturday afternoon, Ireland was going downhill. Her poor fever was getting higher and she wouldn't eat. Long story short? She had the flu the ENTIRE trip. She was a trooper. So, if you see her in a stroller or not herself... that's why. After Scott and Matt drove back to Columbia on Sunday, I realized quickly that I was going to need a stroller for the week for her. I ran to a Target and got one. Later in the trip I had to take her to a doctor in Kansas City for her breathing. She had to get breathing treatments and medicine to help with her breathing. Poor girl wasn't herself, but she tried so hard to participate. She spent a lot of time sleeping, in the bathtub or laying in the stroller.
Needless to say... she was a TROOPER!
These two, along with baby Kate, were rock stars and got along great!!
Saturday when we arrived, we went to lunch, then let the kids swim before heading to dinner.
Sunday we woke up and all went to the Sea Life Aquarium. We all learned something and had fun looking at all the sea creatures.
After the aquarium, we headed to Fritz's. This is such a fun restaurant for adults and kids. It is trained themed. You order your food by phone, then trains deliver your meals. The kids LOVED it!!
After lunch it was off to Crayola World. The kids loved getting new coloring books, crayons and colored pencils to keep them busy.
They loved swimming...in the pool for Sofia and Cohan, the bathtub for Ireland. :)
Did I mention Ireland slept a lot? My heart broke for her, but with Ibuprofen, she was a rock star!
And how cute are these two? Sofia and Cohan loved having a "slumber party."
The kids kept themselves busy having lots of fun in the hotel in between activities.
Monday, Betsy and I took the kids to Legoland before going out to lunch and then walking around the plaza. They had a blast building and playing with Legos, riding Lego rides, watching a 4D Lego movie and more.
Tuesday we did the Kansas City Zoo!! This was a pretty interesting zoo. It was cold and a little rainy, but we made the most of it!
We knew Ireland would want a picture with the penguins... even though she was sleeping. :)
Cohan loved these goats and asked Scott if we could get some at home.
Betsy and I's favorite part of the zoo were the free roaming kangaroos. No joke... they roamed all around a gated area that you were able to walk through. It was absolutely terrifying and awesome at the same time. They would stand right in your path. Cohan of course FREAKED out and immediately started crying when they started coming towards us. It was one of those moments where I wanted to be scared too, but had to be brave and so Betsy and I just laughed so hard we cried.
Wednesday was our last day and was the kids favorite activity. We went to Union Station to Science City. It was amazing and the kids all voted it the funnest thing we did.
Cohan LOVES dinosaurs. His favorite part was talking to this paleontologist. Cohan got to hold a triceratops horn and a dinosaur foot. To say that he was in heaven was an understatement. There was also a place he enjoyed "digging" for bones.
So another spring break in the books.
We had a great time!! Now we need ideas for places for next year!
