Cohan Turns 6

For the past two years, Cohan's birthday has been cold, snowy and icy.  This year, the day before his birthday was spent outside, flying kites, playing with neighbors, having friends over and no coats.  We LOVED this weather!!
Cohan asked Ireland for one more picture the night before his birthday, you know, because it would be the last picture of him as a five-year-old.  :)
Cohan woke up the morning of his birthday ready.
He knew he would have gifts and he was ready for them!
That day, I happened to have Jury Duty in the morning.  Luckily, his sweet teacher sent me this picture.  He was writing a "How To" book on how to decorate cookies, of course, they had to try it.
He was also very lucky because our principal and home school communicator shared his birthday.  They all wanted a picture with him!
I was so happy to make it back just in time to eat lunch with him.  Nanny surprised him and brought him lunch too!
That afternoon, I got to be there while his class sang Happy Birthday to him and they celebrated with cupcakes.
He invited his entire class to his birthday party, but one of his sweet friends couldn't be there, so she brought him a present.  So sweet!
That night, we came home and opened more presents!!
Dinner was his choice... Steak n Shake it was!  They love the milkshakes.
Nanny and Papa H came to bring more presents to him.
He was one happy 6 year old!!
I know this day is all about him, but I kept thinking about where we were 6 years ago.  So much has changed in 6 years.  I am beyond thankful for this little boy making me the luckiest mommy in the world.  He is a rule follower, has a heart of gold, prays hard for others, wants to include others, is an awesome big brother, is so smart and can make us laugh each day.  Thanks Cohan, for teaching us what it means to be proud parents.  We love you more than all the Legos and more than you'll ever know.

January & February Came and Went... Fast

Being behind on the blog means you get the month of February in one post...

We had the New Haven Sock Hop.
The kids had a blast and I loved watching Cohan play with his friends.
Ireland had a blast too!

I made a new Valentine's Day wreath for the front door.
I also stopped by Cohan's Valentine's class party at school...

Baby Quinn was baptized...

We had fun with friends...

We had gorgeous days where building Legos outside was a must...

Followed by snow in the same week...

The kids played really hard...

and snuggled a lot.

Nanny celebrated her birthday...

Quinn became a different superhero with each visit...

Ireland continued to care for all her babies...

The kids said a very sad goodbye to Uncle Pooh, Aunt Meagan and Baby Quinn.  Jack took a job promotion in St. Louis.  We miss them lots, but, lucky for us, St. Louis just wasn't their thing.  They are coming back!!!

Basement Remodel... so far

When we looked for a house to buy, Scott wanted one with an unfinished basement.  I wanted one completely done.  He won.  He wanted one that we could design however we wanted.  This February, we started part one of finishing the basement.  We are finishing a bedroom, bathroom, linen closet and hallway.  So far, HVAC, electric and walls are up.

Now I have some decisions to make about paints colors, flooring, doors and fixtures!
