Quick Trip to the River

On Saturday morning, Scott and Cohan ran an errand together.  They came home telling me we were going to the river to watch for trains.  I did not even know there was a train track around here!  Apparently, Cohan had heard a train and wanted to find it.  Scott told him there were tracks down by the river.  That was all that Cohan needed to hear.

so of course, after breakfast we were on the road to the river...

Even though it was a quick spontaneous trip that last less than a half hour, Cohan hasn't stopped talking about it.  He wanted to go back again on Sunday. 

Abby Visits

This weekend, my sister had a conference here in Columbia.  She stayed with us and the kids were excited to have some extra snuggles.

Abby also made Ireland a tutu.  I think she liked it!

Halloween

Ireland and Cohan were ready for Halloween this year. 

Cohan got to pick out what he wanted to be this year, so he was extra excited.

"Give me some candy!!"

"What, I can't have candy?!?!"

"Maybe next year..."

Ireland hated her costume, but she sure looked cute. 

We could not get a single smile out of her while wearing it.

 We only made it to two houses.  Cohan gets special gifts from our neighbors, so he was ready to come home and play with his new toys.

I kept asking him if he wanted to go to more houses, but he wanted to just stay and pass out candy to other trick or treaters.

5 months old

To my sweet Ireland, 

 Where did the last 5 months go?!  I can't believe you are already five months old!  Your personality is really starting to show.  You used to love sitting in your swing and watching everything.  Now, you want to be part of the action.  Your smile and laugh are infectious.  You love to laugh at your brother and love to blow bubbles and make silly noises.       

You are a drool monster and we wonder if you have some teeth coming.

You suck in your bottom lip just like your big brother. 

Those big blues eyes sure do melt your daddy's heart.

I wasn't sure about having a daughter, and thought I wanted all boys.  You have proven me wrong.  I love the bond we have already.  I love picking out your outfits, matching your bows and looking at all your shoes.  You have changed me in the best way. 

You STILL are not sleeping through the night.  I know one day I will look back and miss those middle of the night feedings and snuggles. 

You are so different than your brother, and I love you for all the things that make you different.  Thanks for picking me as your mommy.  I love you!!!

Preparing for Halloween

Halloween was something that Cohan had been talking about for a long time.  He has been ready.  This was also the first year he has chosen what he wanted to dress up like.  This year he helped put all the candy in bowls...

At the pumpkin patch, we had all picked out pumpkin.  Monday night, we decided to carve them.

Please excuse Cohan's pajamas.  He never got out of them this day! :)

Cohan is obsessed with two things right now: the movie Lion King and Cars.  So, fittingly enough, he wanted Lightening McQueen carved in his pumpkin.  Now, I tend to brag about my pumpkin carving skills, but that was a little beyond my skill level.  He settled for a lightening bolt.

I carved a shamrock in mine.  Ireland is too little, so we shared this pumpkin.

Scott opted for weird lines in his.  He thought they would look good when lit. 

Cohan  decorated Ireland's little pumpkin for her.  He also added some parker to everyone else's pumpkins. 

 

And I love roasting pumpkin seeds!
