Love is All You Need...

Valentine's Day has changed for the better in the last three years.  It went from romantic dinners and drinks to home cooked meals.  It went from elaborate gifts to homemade cards that mean so much more.  It went from flowers that cost tons of money and die to small acts of kindness that we don't forget.  

I feel so blessed for so many reasons.  I am lucky in love.  I married my best friend.  We have two of the coolest, most hilarious, sweetest, gorgeous children we could ask for.  So, as Cohan has been saying...

Lake Weekend

One of Cohan's favorite things in the world is the lake.  This past weekend, we headed to the lake.  Scott had a work thing on Saturday night and Sunday morning, so we made a weekend of it. It was nice to be away, enjoy company cocktails and laughs.  Uncle Jack, Aunt Meagan, Harley Bear, Uncle Matt, Aunt Boo Boo (Betsy) and Sofia joined us...

Saturday morning, Cohan wanted to feed Daisy, his duck.  There were no ducks in sight.  He and Scott went out with frozen bread, Cohan screamed for Daisy, and along came two ducks.  A few minutes later, two more showed up.  Cohan was beyond excited that Daisy came and brought her friends to see him.

I didn't do so hot at taking lots of pictures, but Meagan and I may or may not have tried for a Valentine's Day photo shoot...  more to come later!

Imagination

Cohan's imagination runs wild.  He plays "pretend" all the time.  Last night, he was building a house and wanted to know what color I would like the door; earlier, he raced his horses on a train track and tonight he wanted to pretend to be a lion to wake me up from my nap.  He loves to be a checker from HyVee, a cook, a McDonald's worker and more.  It is constant and I love him at this age.

This video is hard to see, but is of him "talking" on his "phone" while we were driving home.  This went on for 15 minutes.  I have no idea who he was talking to.  He told them to be quiet (he was multi-tasking by watching... what else, but Cars).  He talked to them about the weather, the turns we were taking, racing tires, Lightning McQueen, his day and even whispered since Ireland had fallen asleep. 

You might have to pause the music at the bottom. And please excuse his nose picking...in all fairness, he didn't know anyone was watching!!  :)

Busy Little Weekend

Saturday morning, we got up, had breakfast, ran errands, got both kids new shoes (Ireland got the sweetest new pair on Nike's...pictures later) and then headed to lunch with Nanny and Papa H.  Ireland spent some one on one time with Nanny while Scott, Papa H, Cohan and I went to the Mizzou boys basketball game.  

For the first 20 minutes of being there, Cohan sat and just took it in.  He watched the lights, the players, the people, kept a close eye on Truman the Tiger (to make sure he kept his distance) and occasionally clapped.  I wasn't so sure he liked it.  Now I've come to realize, he's just 2 and was taking in the new experience!! At halftime, he got a Sprite, some popcorn and was brave enough to stand up and cheer on his Tigers.  He did ask me several times why the (golden) girls kept showing their bellies.  He was very concerned for them since it was so cold outside!  :)

We came home, cleaned the house and enjoyed dinner company.  Watching Ireland and Sofia is hilarious!!  

All three kiddos took a bath together!

Sunday Ireland enjoyed some Skype time with GramMo.  She also enjoyed pretzel sticks (thanks Aunt Beth for the idea) for her Super Bowl snack.

8 Months Old

8 months old already?  Everyday she is doing something new...

  She is a huge ball of personality.  Baby girl loves a good meal and will talk to anyone that will listen.  She now says, Da Da, Ma Ma, Hi, bye-bye and baby.  She waves to everyone.  

She wants to crawl, and even gets in the position, but gets frustrated when she falls.  Scott thinks she is going to crawl soon; I say be careful what you wish for.  I don't think the motivation is there when her big brother brings her whatever she wants!  

We still haven't found a food that she isn't fond of yet.  She hates when dinner is over.  She tries to pull up on everything, but just doesn't get it yet.  She is in hog heaven when you stand her up.  She will hang on to anything sturdy.  She chews on everything.  No teeth yet, but three are about to break through.  She loves a good game of peek-a-boo and loves Itsy Bitsy Spider song sang to her by none other than Cohan.
