Spring Break... So Far

Spring Break is this week.  I decided that my biggest thing on my to-do list was to spend quality time with Cohan everyday.  If I had something to do, he was coming with!  This is my last "break" before Ireland is born, and I wanted to do fun things with Cohan.
Friday, our friends hosted a "sprinkle" to help welcome Baby Ireland into our group.  Kim and Andy hosted it and Kim made these flower cupcakes that were adorable and Cohan enjoyed them too!  There are lots of kids and they LOVE playing with each other.  It is fun now that they are all getting older to see them interact.  Everyone is on their "second round" of kids, so they will all be close in age!!

Saturday and Sunday were yard work days.  The weather has been awesome and we took advantage of that.  Our house is going back on the market this week, so Scott, Cohan and I spent lots of time doing some spring cleaning around the outside.  Cohan wanted to do everything we did!!

Our neighbor, Bob, is one of Cohan's favorite people.  Cohan waits for him to leave each morning and they wave to each other and blow kisses.  It's awesome.  Bob has seven horses and tells Cohan about them quite often.  One day last week, Cohan ran to me and said, "Bob horseys here!!"  I went to the front window and sure enough, the horse trailer was there.  We saw Bob that night and he told us that his daughter would be racing three of them at the fairgrounds on Sunday.  She is a talented barrel racers.  He invited us out and told Cohan he could ride a horse.
Cohan did NOT forget.  Sunday morning, after breakfast, we headed to the race.  Cohan ran right for Bob and was more than happy to get on one of the horses!  I thought he would be scared, but not a chance.  He was all smiles.  As we left, he told us he wanted a horse.  We said Bob's will be good enough for us to borrow!!!

Pinterest has me hooked.  I find more recipes, ideas for around the house, crafty things and more from this website.  This is a treat that I made and Cohan was hooked.  I bought sugar free pudding packs and stuck a tongue depressor into the top and froze it.  Took it out a few days later, and Cohan has a sugar free pudding pop that he thoroughly enjoyed.  It was nice too, because he didn't finish even half of it and I was able to stick it back in it's container into the freezer!

Cohan always seems to do something, and I think, where did he learn that?  I know where he learned to drink the milk out of his cereal bowl.  His Papa H (Scott's Dad) does that same thing.  I watch the two of them do it together and laugh.  He did it this morning and said, "I drink milk.  Papa do it too!"

For Christmas, Cohan got a Batman tricycle from Jack and Meagan.  Cohan calls it his Batman motorcycle.  He has recently found how to take stickers off of it.  We find them in random places.  Today, this is how I found them and he said, "My Batman car!"

Today we also "playground hopped" with a friend.  We hit three different playgrounds all in the same park.  Cohan and his buddy, Carson, (and their pregnant mommas) were worn out!
On a side note, I went to the doctor for a check-up this morning and Ireland will be here the 29th or 30th of May if she doesn't come sooner!!!

Latest Randoms

Here are some cute pictures I found on my phone.
Weather has been awesome.
Car riding in style.
When my mom was in town, we went to Osaka for dinner.  It has a hibachi grill.  Cohan was not so sure about the cook and the fires he made, but man did he love the chopsticks, steak, rice, noodles and ice cream they gave him!

Growing up, on St. Patrick's Day every year, my mom made something green for breakfast.  This year, I made Cohan green eggs.  He LOVED them.  It was nice so he and I had breakfast on the back porch.

This boy LOVES anything with wheels.  This is his CHEEEESE face on a riding mower at Lowe's.

Big Boy Room and a Nursery

For Cohan's 2nd birthday, he got everything he needed to go from a nursery to a "big boy room."  He got a new bed, mattress, bedding, curtains, pictures, dresser and more.  I thought he would be sad seeing his crib being taken apart, but boy was I wrong.  As soon as the front came off and the crib mattress was out, he began putting his monkey "to bed."  He was more concerned with his monkey being put night night than the big transition.

Here is his new big boy bedroom.  He loves it.  It has been a tough transition for Scott and I.  Going to bed only used to take about 10 minutes.  Now, it takes MUCH longer.  The first night, it took about 3 hours, and each night got better.  Now we are down to about a half hour.  We put a child lock on his door so he can't get out.  It sounds cruel, but he does not get out of his bed now.  We are lucky, because some of my friends tell me how their child gets out of the bed in the middle of the night.  That hasn't been our problem, yet.  Our big issue is getting him to sleep.  We have a new little routine, and slowly, but surely it's working.  It's bath time, songs, PJs, books in bed, prayers, lights out and sleep.  It takes longer than we are used to, but I know I should cherish this extra time with my growing boy, even though some nights I am at my wits end.
I should start a book on the weird positions I find him in.  This is how I found him sleeping the other night...
My mom came in town for two weekends in a row.  The first weekend, we began Cohan's room and Ireland's room makeovers!  The second weekend, we finished everything we had started and my two babies are both ready with new rooms and organized to a tee!!  What would I do without my mom?!  Some of the pictures aren't great, since I was taking them with my phone.
Lately, when I am getting frustrated with bedtime, or Cohan always wanting ME to do everything, I remember that this isn't going to last forever.  Soon there will be a new baby and right now I have to spend as much time with my only baby while I have only one.  Even if it takes 3 hours or 30 minutes to put this little guy to sleep, I have to think that it won't be like this for long.  This is the song that keeps popping into my head...
It Won't Be Like This For Long
LYRICS:
He didn't have to wake up
He'd been up all night
Lay'n there in bed listen'n
To his new born baby cry
He makes a pot of coffee
He splashes water on his face
His wife gives him a kiss and says
It gonna be OK
It won't be like this for long
One day soon we'll look back laugh'n
At the week we brought her home
This phase is gonna fly by
So baby just hold on
It won't be like this for long

Four years later 'bout four thirty
She's crawling in their bed
And when he drops her off at preschool
She's clinging to his leg
The teacher peels her off of him
He says what can I do
She says now don't you worry
This will only last a week or two

It won't be like this for long
One day soon you'll drop her off
And she won't even know your gone
This phase is gonna fly by
If you can just hold on
It wont be like this for long

Some day soon she'll be a teenager
And at times you'll think she hates him
Then he'll walk her down the isle
And he'll raise her vale
But right now she's up and cry'n
And the truth is that he don't mind
As he kisses her good night
And she says her prayers
He lays down there beside her
Till her eyes are finally closed
And just watch'n her it breaks his heart
Cause he already knows
It wont be like this for long
One day soon that little girl is gonna be
All grown up and gone
Yeah this phase is gonna fly by
He's try'n to hold on
It won't be like this for long

It won't be like this for long.

Random Videos

Here are a couple of random videos I found when cleaning off our Flip Cam.  Seriously was laughing out loud watching some of these.

This one is Uncle Pooh and Uncle Shuff playing with Cohan.  This had already been going on for quite awhile before I started taping.  His squeals of laughter are awesome.

These two videos show Scott teaching Cohan how to do a "touchdown" dance.  Pretty hilarious.

Dinosaur Jacket

My sister, Abby, has recently become SUPER crafty.  I used to pride myself on being creative, but maybe due to lack of time or motivation lately, that has NOT been the case.  Needless to say, I am so glad she has shared her creativity with us!  She has blown us out of the water.
For Cohan's birthday, she MADE this sweatshirt for Cohan.  Cohan wouldn't wear any other jacket to Allie's for a few days except for this one.  I finally snuck it in the wash due to food and dirt stains, but he LOVES it and always wants the hood up.

Thanks Aunt Abby!!

Cohan's Construction Birthday Party

I am a little late at posting this, but better late than never!  I was busy this weekend with my mom getting Ireland's nursery and Cohan's big boy room completed!  Pictures to come later.

When I asked Cohan a few months ago what he wanted for his birthday party, he simply said, "Tractors!"  I knew that a construction party would be perfect!
Decorations were fun and super easy.  Since kids were going to be painting, we decorated our garage and let the kids have at it!  I used caution tape, cones, a work bench, tools and tractors we already owned to decorate.
On amazon.com I found cute things for the kids to take home with them.  Each kiddo got a rubber "construction" duck, an apron that I ironed their names on, a construction cone cup, a hard hat with their name and a bird house they painted while they were at the party.
Before anyone got to our house, Cohan saw his cake!  immediately, he pulled up his "time out chair" as a stool, helped himself to a plate and sang himself Happy Birthday before asking for a piece.  He was heartbroken that he had to wait for his friends.
Finally, his friends and cousins arrived and the painting began.  I thought the bird houses were sort of construction-y since it was made with wood?!  Either way, they loved it and Cohan's is on display at our house with his name and the date on the bottom to save as a memory.

Cohan having a hard time sharing with his cousin, Mack.

Just a couple of the finished products!  Cohan's is on the left.

Happy Birthday to Cohan!!!

Opening Gifts!

Mild meltdown sharing the limelight...

New t-ball stand from Uncle Pooh and Aunt Meagan

After everyone left, Cohan saw his birthday cake on the kitchen table.  He decided he needed anther round of cake and singing.  Uncle Pooh, Aunt Meagan, Aunt Boo Boo (Betsy),  Uncle Matt, Scott, my mom and I were all there to help him celebrate (again).
Overall, Cohan had an awesome time with all his friends.  It is so fun to watch all these kids play together.  HAPPY 2nd BIRTHDAY TO OUR BIG BOY!!
