Our first week of summer didn't really feel like summer. It was rainy and sort of chilly. We made the most of it having friends over and going to friend's houses, playing in the rain, doing inside activities and even sneaking in a day at the park.
Both kids are really in to dressing up right now. Cohan makes due using his imagination and items he finds around the house...
Ireland, on the other hand, has three baskets FULL of dress up clothes- accessories, shoes, jewelry, purses, wands and crowns. She likes to dress up ALL THE TIME!
Sometimes it is a struggle to get her in normal clothes to get her out the door.
Last week Cohan was in Super Hero Bible Camp each night. This was right up his alley. Each night from 5:15-8:30, he went, ate dinner, watched plays, did crafts and had Bible study with peers his age. He was in a class with two of my friend's sons. He LOVED it!!! He liked to show us his Super Hero moves...
It felt weird having one less kid each night. We tried to have something fun for Ireland to do too. One night, while Cohan was in class, Ireland played in the rain. She loved splashing in the puddles and wearing her rain boots and coat. She also had friends over and got to play without her brother being there.
This little gal is really getting her own personality!!
It was sort of chilly and muddy, but we met friends at the park and had a picnic.
My absolute favorite thing that has happened since summer has started is watching these two play together. They use their imagination, play and hold conversations. When we have a hard time understanding what Ireland is saying, Cohan has taken it upon himself to be her interpreter. The bond these two have is something I love watching more than anything in the world. It reminds me of my own siblings.
Friday night was the last night of Bible Camp. It was a Family Night and set up like a carnival. They had Super Hero Challenges for kids to take. Cohan liked this blow up obstacle course.
Saturday night we met friends at Cooper's Landing on the Missouri River. The kids danced to the live music, watched boats and ate ice cream while we got to catch up with friends. It was an awesome way to spend a mild night. And yes, this was her outfit of choice. She had an all out temper tantrum when we tried to get it off her before leaving the house. We choose to pick our battles...
My loves...
I love this time I get to spend with my kids this summer!
Now, off to go pack lunches before they wake up for the pool again today!!
