Kindergarten Flew By...

Kindergarten came and went.  Too fast.  Cohan had the absolute best teacher around.  He grew so much socially and academically.  We are so proud of him.  Here are a few of our favorite pictures from the last few months at school with him...

When Cohan started kindergarten, he would draw elaborate pictures of our family.  The only thing missing?  Ireland.  He said he name was too long and she was embarrassing most of the time.  It made of laugh, but really hurt her feelings.  So, we celebrated little things, like when he included Ireland in a family picture.
Cohan received a couple of awards at monthly assemblies.  This one was for using his best effort in his work.  Daddy was excited to come and watch him receive this award.
His class did a big celebration for the 100th day of school.  Pajama day and lots of fun activities.
Cohan has become quite the writer.  Every chance he gets he is writing notes to us and others.  Here are a couple I found in a little journal in my purse.
New Haven has a special tradition of morning openings.  Each Friday, the entire school gets together in the morning for an assembly.  On this day, they recognize people who have had birthdays and sing to them.  Cohan loved the whole school singing to him!
Did I mention I loved his teacher?  At the beginning of the year, Cohan would see me in the halls and run up to me for a hug and kiss.  I would tell him, "Not right now.  Get in line with your class."  His teacher is amazing.  She's also my good friend.  She said, "Heidi, stop doing that.  You hug and love on all these other kids in the school, but won't do it to your own?  He's not going to want to do this forever.  Live it up."  Since that moment, I have embraced it and even dropped by his room just for a quick squeeze.  He was so blessed to have her, but so were we.
Cohan performed at an after school choir concert for multi-cultural night.
He made a best buddy that everyone thought was his twin, Jake.
His artwork was displayed...
And then, before we knew it, the last day was here.  How did he get so big so quick???  Lots of tears were shed by he and I on this day.  It was his last day as a kindergartner, but also our last day at New Haven.  We are so lucky to be moving to a brand new school down the road from us.  I was lucky enough to be chosen to work there.  It is our home school, so the kids will get to go to school with the same kids they play with in the neighborhood.  We are nervous, but so excited for the new adventure...for all of us.
Our last assembly together.  Cohan got recognized for participating in Spanish Club.
It was also my friend, Jen, and I's last day at New Haven.
Cohan with the prinicipal, Mrs. Garth and home school communicator, Mrs. Johnson.
And of course, his amazing teacher, Mrs. Maddox.
Cohan also became super close with one of my students, Adam Hall.  He was an amazing little boy and both Adam and Cohan shed lots of tears saying goodbye to each other.
First grade, here we come!!
