Soccer has Started...Finally

For two weeks, Cohan and Ireland's soccer games have been rained out.  We have had two disappointed kiddos and Scott was excited to get started coaching.  So this Saturday, we were all more than ready to play!
Cohan loved soccer, took a soccer camp this summer and was ready to start.  Ireland on the other hand was a little apprehensive.  We all but begged her not to play again, but in the end, let it be her choice.  We were sure we were throwing away a few hundred dollars when we signed her up.  Oh man were we wrong.  She surprised all of us on Saturday.
And the best part?  Cousins!!
We started with pictures...
These two brothers were super excited their wives said they should be coaches.  They look thrilled and are trying to be tough, but we know they love it... deep down.  :)
Cohan did an awesome job and worked hard.  I missed a lot of the game since I was watching Ireland's game, but Scott said he did an awesome job.
Ireland surprised everyone...
There were only four players there, so that meant one sub (they play 3 on 3).  It was hot and she ran and played.  We didn't have to bribe her with candy or toys.  I was so impressed.  Then, to everyone's surprise, so made her first goal.  Unfortunately, Cohan was playing at the exact same time and all she wanted to do was tell Cohan.  She was so proud of herself.  I love that she is trying this year and made us all eat our words.  Glad she pushed us to let her play!!!

School Field Trips and the 1st Grade Reader and Writer

Ireland has LOVED Pre-K this year.  She is now independently writing her name and seems more and more into letters and school altogether.  One thing that she was SUPER excited about was riding a bus and going on a field trip.  Her first field trip was last week.  They went to the Dairy Farm.  She was nervous about the poop smell, but Uncle Matt went and stayed with she and Sofia.
They had a great time!!

Ireland is still dancing to her own beat.  Her teacher always captures photos of Ireland that are so "her."  That girl has a song in her heart.  I love her free spirit.

Cohan is still loving Beulah.  One thing I really love is seeing Cohan with his friends that he's grown up with.  Lots of our friends' kids go to Beulah and Cohan loves seeing them each day.

Last year, Cohan became a reader.  He loved it, but this year, it has grown.  I catch him reading at night and not going to sleep, wanting to read to us and just loving books.  My teacher heart loves this.  I love listening to him ask questions about the plot of the book and decode words he's not sure about.

Last week, I was sneaking in Cohan's classroom to drop off a raincoat and he called me over to his table.  He showed me his personal narrative he'd been working on.  He was so proud.  He wrote an entire story about our trip to Springfield and the State Fair.  I love his story and illustrations.

I also love when he stops by my classroom to drop off goodies he's been making in his classroom.

Avery's Birthday Celebration

Ireland and I were super sad to miss Avery's 7th birthday party in St. Louis.  It was the same weekend we headed to Springfield to meet Baby Rylan.  Ireland and I had to make it up to her.  So made stole her for the day to spend time with just us girls.  We started with manicures and pedicures.  Then headed to lunch of their choice... McDonalds.  I offered lots of yummy places, but they were dead set on McDonalds.  After lunch we headed downtown to Hot Box Cookies for dessert and even brought cookies home for the boys.  I love being an aunt to this sweet girl.  She is growing way too fast.  Avery and Ireland and Quinn are so lucky to have each other.  None of them have sisters, but they are all so lucky to have cousins that can be like sisters.
