Christmas Eve & Christmas Morning

Last year was our first year to be in our own home for Christmas Eve and Christmas morning.  I was a little sad about not being with my own family, but we ended up loving it.  My dad reminded me it was time to do what was best for the kids and start making our own traditions.  We have done just that.  It just wasn't fair to the kids to be traveling so much on Christmas Day.  

This year, we headed to mass at 4:30.  We were a little nervous about Ireland's behavior.  We had to go early to get a seat but, both kids ending up being awesome and loving the music.  

After church we headed home for dinner.  I made MeMo's hot ham and cheese sandwiches.  This is a Davlin tradition to eat these on Christmas Eve and we couldn't give that up!! 

A tradition we started last year was a Christmas Eve box for the kids.  Cohan even remembered it from last year.  It is the only present they get to open on Christmas Eve.  They got Christmas jammies, Christmas books, Christmas DVDs, popcorn and hot chocolate.  

After baths, we popped popcorn, had hot chocolate and watched the Christmas movies.  

Before Cohan went to bed, he kindly reminded Riggs not to eat Santa's cookies...

and checked one more time to make sure Santa wasn't coming.

Then... HE CAME!!!!

The next morning Ireland woke up around 7:45 and we woke Cohan up around 8:15... we were so excited!!

I wish more than anything the video of them coming out would download.  It is priceless.  Ireland was most excited about her babies, big girl undies and dress up clothes.  She wore them all day.  Cohan put Scott to work immediately trying to transform transformers and put together toys.  

We had a delicious bacon, egg and hashbrown casserole and pecan pull apart rolls.  I was smart this year and made both the night before.

After breakfast, the kids got to open presents from us.  

They loved the memory game with pictures of their grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.  

We played lots of games...

It was an awesome morning.  So happy I got to spend it with our family of four!
