Valentine's Day

We used to be the couple that sent flowers, exchanged gifts and went out for dinner ON Valentine's Day. Since Cohan was born, our priorities have changed a little bit on this day. We still use it as a day to do something special, but we do this as a family. This year, we decided to cook in. We made crab legs, twice baked potatoes and enjoyed each other.

Cohan and I made this sweet little sign at the end of January so we could enjoy it around the house.

These are not the best pictures, but we loved this shirt he wore for Valentine's Day. It says, "This guy is a ladies man." I think this picture is hilarious. He always sits like this on the couch. Props up his leg and relaxes !

My homemade card to Scott, Cohan's card he made at day care for us, and Scott's card to me.

I found this idea on pintrest. Cohan gave a sand shovel filled with Valentine's Day candy and I note attached that said, "I dig you. Happy Valentine's Day" to his cousins and his friend at daycare.

My Poor Baby

My poor little guy has had a cough since last week. It wasn't anything horrible, just a cough. Saturday night, he went to bed like normal, then woke up in the middle of the night and was up most of the night. Sunday morning was no better. He refused to be put down, wouldn't really eat or drink and was just not himself. Once we got some medicine down him, he was so much better. My dad was here and Cohan started to act like himself again. We thought he was better, except for the cough he just couldn't shake.

Monday, we woke up to a snow day. Cohan's amazing pediatrician's nurse called to check on him. I told her about how he was doing better, only a slight temp and cough. She told me that I needed to bring him in because they were worried it was pneumonia.

I took him to the doctor's office as soon as he woke up. They were very concerned about the cough. I then had to take him for chest x-rays. It wasn't until I stood up from behind the table that Cohan was getting his x-rays on that the nurse realized I was pregnant and couldn't be in the room. They had to call for another nurse to come hold him in this contraption while he got his x-rays. It broke my heart to hear him scream my name and not be able to do anything.

Sure enough, after the results came, he has a nasty case of pneumonia and a bad ear infection (our first). They took his oxygen levels and said some antibiotics and a close eye and he should be fine.

I was totally ok with all the snuggles!!!

Bucko and Grandma Chris Visit

On Saturday, my dad and step-mom came to visit. Cohan was very excited to see them. They wanted to go to the Bass Pro Shop here since they don't have one in Springfield. IT was easy to talk Cohan into going when they told him about the fish and boats. Looking at the fish!

Cohan loved "driving" the boats and golf carts.

Grandma Chris showing him the games.

Sunday morning, Cohan woke up feeling pretty bad. After we got some medicine down him, we warmed up quickly. He kept trying the say grandpa, but it came out as, "Bucko." Well, poor Bucko couldn't get a second without Cohan calling for him.

We had such a good visit! Thanks for coming!

Everybody LOVES Elmo!!

Last week, my sister-in-law, Beth, and I took Cohan and Avery to see Sesame Street Live! Cohan and Avery were SUPER excited about it and had Elmo shirts ready to wear! We went to dinner, then headed to Elmo.

To say that we had two excited kiddos would have been an understatement. While we waited in the will-call line to pick up our tickets, they danced and hugged and held hands. They really do love each other.

I was worried that Cohan would be scared. Our seats were in the balcony and I think that was a good thing. As soon as the lights went out and the stage was lit, they were all eyes!!

Cohan was a little scared at first, but once he saw Elmo, life was good!

One of Cohan's favorite parts was when Elmo sang by himself. Cohan sang Elmo's World right along with Elmo! Cohan looked at me and said Noodle. He was asking where Mr. Noodle was. At that, out he came!! Cohan was mesmerized and watched in awe!

It was an awesome show and the kids were so excited to be there.

It was fun to experience this with Beth and Avery!!

When we got home, Cohan wanted to tell Scott all about Elmo. He kept saying, "Elmo, Noodle, Monsters!" It was adorable and he still talks about it.

He came to my work one day last week after school; someone asked him how the show was and I couldn't figure out what he was trying to tell them. After he began to get frustrated, I asked him again and he was telling them about the part when Oscar the Grouch was in the trash can making music by banging on his can. It's amazing what he remembers.

We had such a good time. Even though they won't remember, we will have pictures to show them how the saw Elmo!!!

Baby Eliot

My good friend Abbey just had her third little boy. Her family has been in town, so we hadn't seen them since the hospital when she had him. His name is Eliot Lad Matz. He is perfect in every way. Cohan thought so too. It was nice to get to have dinner, catch up and let all the big boys play. All Cohan wanted to do though was, "hold her, hold her Mommy!" He got in some good practice!

Only My Dad

Only my dad would find our baby girl pink camo. Not even three days after we found out we were having a girl these arrive in the mail. I didn't have to look at the return address to know who they were from. The camo onsie has ruffles on the butt. The pink camo bib overalls have a little dear on the front...

Only my dad and step-mom Chris could find this!

My sister has been busy knitting leggings, ordering headband and getting her ready. Last weekend we went to the lake and got her lots of cute outfits. We are getting very excited for her and I think she might be the best dressed out there!
