Cohan's Homework and Ireland's Babies

Everyone is adjusting well to life back at school.  We finally have our routines down and everything is running smoothly.  I don't like that Ireland and Cohan aren't together during the day anymore, but we love seeing them together when they get home.  They play, snack by one another and sometimes, don't say a word, but play close enough so they can see each other.
I've said it a million times, but it is almost as if Ireland knows she is a girl.  This baby girl gets her babies, rocks them, calms them, feeds them, pushes them in strollers, sings to them and reads to them...
please notice the bracelets
And while she is at Mrs. Allie's house with Sofia, they even play hair salon.
And empty all the Tupperware...
Cohan is still loving preschool.  He even had his first homework.  This week, the theme at school was GOD MADE ME SPECIAL.  He wrote his name and told me what to write for all the answers.  I tried to change his mind about the restaurant choice, but his response was that he loves their strawberry daiquiris.  I told him not to mention that to the class.

He also had to fill the bag with things that were special to him.  The directions said it could be pictures, toys or even play food.  I asked him and the things he chose were pretty funny.  In his bag he included a Mizzou football that plays the fight song, his color changer Lightning McQueen, pretend banana, pretend chicken leg, pretend grapes, and pictures of Ireland, Mommy and Daddy, Riggs, Daisy Duck (from the lake house), him driving the boat, he and Ireland driving his car and his backyard club house.
What he chose to put in his bag
Even though it might not be what is special to us, I love that I know the things that are special to him.

Happy Thursday!  Hope everyone has a great three day weekend!

Trucks & Princesses... Cousins' Birthday

Last Saturday, we celebrated Avery turning 4 and Macklin turning 3.  It was an adorable Princess and Construction truck birthday party.

Sometimes I swear Ireland knows she is supposed to like girly things.  She immediately grabbed a tiara, some bracelets and started playing.  Cohan was a little freaked out by the huge excavator at first, but soon warmed up to it.  They loved playing with the cousins and outside together.  It was a fun party.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY AVERY AND MACKLIN!!!!

We Are Doing Something Right...

We pray.  We aren't great about it, but I can guarantee two times a day my kids hear us pray.

We pray each night before dinner and we pray every night before bed.  It is the same prayer each night at dinner and a different one for bedtime.  Cohan has his bedtime prayer memorized and can do it on his own.  He needs a little help with the dinner one.  Ireland obviously can't talk, but does hear the same prayers at meals and her bedtime.

Tonight, however, something awesome happened.  We were all chatting as we sat down to dinner.  The second the last person sat down at the table, Ireland made a noise to get our attention.  We all looked at her.  She had the biggest smile on her face and sat in her chair folding her hands.  She was ready to pray.  My cup runneth over.  We were so proud of her.

Even though we don't make it to church every weekend, even though my kids might not go to Catholic school here, even though we aren't the most religious people, our kids know to pray.
I couldn't be more proud.

I read a sign last year.  It said something about waking up one day and only having the things around you that you had thanked God for the day before.  It made me think... maybe we aren't thankful enough.  We don't have the best of the best of things, but we sure are blessed.  We have a home, our health, and amazing family and friends.  We are so blessed, so we added a thank you prayer to our bedtime routine nightly.

Hearing Cohan talk about praying at his preschool has warmed my heart.  One of my favorite things about his bedtime routine is listening to who he adds to pray for at the end of our prayers.  I should be better about telling those people when he has added an extra prayer in for them.

We aren't perfect parents by ANY means.  I'm sure we are doing tons that our kids will blame us for later in life.  But tonight, watching my kids pray, I knew Scott and I were doing something right.

Another favorite...
I need to remember this...

First Day of Preschool for Cohan

Yesterday was meet the teacher.  Cohan liked meeting Mrs. Oliver.  He had been so excited to meet her and go play with all the toys. He also loved that there was a snow cone truck there when we left.
It was a preschool treat...
Last night, I was a wreck.  I slept three and a half hours.  I was just so worried.  I knew HE would do fine, but I was so worried about all the what ifs...  Today, I woke up ready.  I was glad to get all my boo hoo-ing out of the way yesterday. He woke up ready too.  He wouldn't even eat anything at home for breakfast.  He knew they were giving him Cheerios, milk and bananas for breakfast.  He wanted to eat at his preschool.
His present for Mrs. Oliver
He did awesome.  He waved bye, and was not even a little sad to see us leave.  He did call me back after I walked out of the classroom.  I was a little worried.  He just wanted to tell me to, "drive safe."

When Scott went to pick him up today (I had meet the teacher night), he cried because he didn't want to leave.  I would say this little man LOVES preschool.  I'm so excited for him!!!
